Lesson 123 — Advanced

Platform Anatomy: Bedrock, Vertex AI & Azure AI Foundry

Teen clouds ke teen AI platforms alag naam rakhte hain, par andar ka shape lagbhag ek hi hai: ek model catalog, ek endpoint style, ek identity system, ek network boundary aur ek bill. Is lesson mein hum wo shared shape samjhenge, catalog padhna seekhenge, aur ek platform par chalaya hua skill doosre par map karna.

⏱ 20 min• Advanced• The Three Ways to Consume a Model

Teeno platforms ka shared shape

Kya hai?

Bedrock (AWS), Vertex AI (GCP) aur Azure AI Foundry (Azure) — teeno ek hi shape rakhte hain: closed aur open-weight models ka catalog, unhe call karne ka unified endpoint, cloud identity se auth, optional private network boundary, aur bill jo cloud account se juda hai.

Kab kaam aata hai?

Jab tum production AI workload apne cloud account mein lekar aao — new project, compliance push, ya existing API app ka cloud migration. Platform tab bolta hai jab boundary chahiye.

Kahan milta hai?

Cloud console mein, CLI/SDK mein, aur infrastructure-as-code templates mein. Tumhara deployment code in platforms ke SDKs se hi baat karega.

Sabse badi baat: ek platform seekh lo, doosre ki docs padhne mein tumhe sirf vocabulary translate karni hai. Concept ek hi hai — project ya account kahan bana, model kis naam se pin hua, request kis format mein jaati hai, identity kis object se aati hai.

Yaad rakho: Platform model ka provider nahi hota — catalog mein aksar kai upstream providers ke models ek saath baithe hain. Platform tumhara distributor hai, manufacturer nahi.

Model catalog padhna — model card ki tarah

{
  "model_id": "some-provider/some-model-v1",
  "provider": "upstream provider name",
  "modality": ["text", "image-input"],
  "available_regions": ["region-a", "region-b"],
  "lifecycle": "active | pending | retired",
  "invocation_modes": ["platform-unified", "provider-native"],
  "pricing": "per input token + per output token"
}
Catalog = model card: Model card padhne ki aadat hai toh catalog bhi wahi hai — modality, context, provider, availability. Farq sirf itna: yahan version pinning aur region filtering tumhe khud karna padta hai, kyunki defaults kabhi kabhi retire hote waqt badal jaate hain.

Platform se invoke karna — unified API ka shape

# Platform SDK ka pattern (shape sab platforms mein similar)
import boto3 # example: AWS SDK — doosre clouds ka SDK bhi yahi shape rakhta hai

client = boto3.client(
    "bedrock-runtime",
    region_name="ap-south-1",
)

resp = client.converse(
    modelId="some-provider/some-model-v1",
    messages=[{"role": "user", "content": [{"text": "Ek chhota summary do"}]}],
    system=[{"text": "Tum ek helpful assistant ho"}],
    inferenceConfig={"maxTokens": 512, "temperature": 0.2},
)

print(resp["output"]["message"]["content"][0]["text"])
print(resp["usage"]) # input/output tokens — cost isi se nikalta hai
Abstraction banao: Apne app code mein platform SDK ko seedha mat bulao — ek chhota client wrapper banao jo tumhara request shape le. Tab platform badalne par sirf wrapper badlega, application nahi. Ye aage portability lesson mein detail mein.

Same ideas, alag vocabulary

idea AWS Bedrock Vertex AI (GCP) Azure AI Foundry
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
account boundary    account          project            subscription+RG
AI project unit - vertex AI project AI Foundry resource
model reference model id publisher/model deployment name
invoke converse API prediction/generatefoundry SDK / REST
identity IAM role service account managed identity
region region setting location region of resource
billing + tags cost allocation labels resource tags
Translation trick: Naya platform seekhne jaao toh pehle ye char sawaal poochho — account/project kya hai, model kaise reference hota hai, identity kis object se aati hai, region kahan pin hota hai. Char jawab milte hi 80% platform samajh aa jaata hai.

Ek hi catalog mein model swap

# Ek hi wrapper, do models — auth, network, billing same
MODELS = {
    "fast": "provider-a/fast-model",
    "smart": "provider-b/smart-model",
}

def ask(prompt: str, tier: str = "fast") -> str:
    resp = client.converse(
        modelId=MODELS[tier],
        messages=[{"role": "user", "content": [{"text": prompt}]}],
        inferenceConfig={"maxTokens": 512},
    )
    return resp["output"]["message"]["content"][0]["text"]

# swap = sirf config change — identity, network, billing same rehte hain
Swap ka ritual: Har swap ke baad teen cheezein check karo — output format sahi (structured output/tool calls), latency budget theek, aur cost per request expected range mein. Ye teeno pass hone par hi config production mein jaati hai.

Platform kya nahi deta — tumhara hi kaam hai

Bhranti mat pakdo: Platform ne "managed" likha hai toh app managed nahi ho jaati. Platform inference ka plumbing deta hai — intelligence ka poora layer abhi bhi tumhare code mein hai. Ye line interview mein bhi poochhi jaati hai.

Exercise

Question: Bedrock ki unified API jisme har model ek hi request format leta hai, uska kya naam hai? (ek shabd)

Question: GCP Vertex AI mein model invoke karne ki permission dene wala identity object kya kehlata hai?

Question: Azure mein app ke liye bani, password-free cloud identity ka kya naam hai? (managed identity / api key)

Question: Platform catalog mein har model ke saath kya listed hota hai jo design space decide karta hai — pricing ya region?

Common mistakes

Desi example: Mall ki ek counter, anek dukaanein

Mall mein har dukaan alag owner ki hai, par billing counter ek, security gate ek aur parking rule ek hai. Platform bhi wahi — catalog mein kai providers ki dukaanein, par identity, network aur bill tumhare mall ke rules se:

text
mall gate -> ek identity check (roles)
mall counter -> ek bill (cloud bill + tags)
dukaanein -> kai providers ke models
par: har dukaan ka saman alag quality ka — test tum karo
Interview angle — yahan se sawaal aate hain
  • Q: Managed platform ka shared shape kya hai? — Model catalog, unified endpoint, cloud identity, network boundary, cloud-connected bill.
  • Q: Model catalog kaise padhoge? — Provider, modality, available regions, lifecycle status, pricing model — model card ki tarah.
  • Q: Unified API aur provider-native passthrough mein farq? — Unified ek common format deta hai; passthrough raw provider features ke liye jab format mein kuch na ho.
  • Q: Platform apne saath kya nahi laata? — Prompt quality, retrieval design, evaluation depth aur product behavior — ye sab application ka kaam hai.
Lesson complete?

Platform ka anatomy clear — catalog, invocation aur vocabulary map ho gayi. Agla lesson — Identity, Networking & Tenancy — mein dekhenge cloud identity, private paths aur tenant boundaries kaise banti hain.
